If you're between the ages of 6 and 11 or you are the parent of a kid in that age group then you probably know of Cartoon Network's popular series Adventure Time, starring Finn the Human and Jake the Dog. The show is so popular, the network just struck a deal with Penguin Young Readers Group to publish a book version of the show. It is the number one show on Mondays (when it airs) for 6 to 11-year-old children. Great news for all those fans out there and even for parents who ban their children from watching T.V.
Penguin plans on releasing the first four tiles in July. The books currently in production include "Adventure Time Mad Libs"; two sticker/activity titles (It's a Slamacowtastic Story Mix-Up and Righteous Rules for Being Awesome); and a 112-page Dude-It-Yourself Adventure Journal. From the sound of these titles, looks like these will be a lot of fun to read to your toddler or to put on the summer reading list for your older super reader. Penguin says the books appeal to tweens, teens and even young adults. We're not sure about young adults but if you're a big kid like some of us, it might in fact be your cup of tea. Of course we can't forget Harry Potter and the adult hysteria that ensued with that series.
Also important note for fans: Penguin says the books will introduce some new characters. Peter Yoder, VP of Cartoon Networks Consumer Products for North America says, "There's only so much on-air content you can do, and the publishing has allowed us to expand the world of the show with new characters and more character development. It's helped us open up the Land of Ooh and create a more robust entertainment experience for the consumer."
So for the die-hard fans out there, expect even more from the books. Happy reading.
