Clyde Edgerton offers advice to new dads of all age groups in his new book "Papadaddy's Book for New Fathers: Advice to Dads of All Ages"
Author Clyde Edgerton has already written ten books and now his latest book "Papadaddy's Book for New Fathers: Advice to Dads of All Ages" acts as a guide book for new fathers of all ages. Being a dad of four kids himself, the author decided to pen down all things he thinks a new father should know and be aware of.
He talks about becoming a father as an older man and says he thinks it's really good if a man's health permits him to do so. He is of the opinion that being a father lets loose a "secret chemical" in the body that encourages a man to be strong and continue living in spite of all negative circumstances.
Talking about those peculiar animal shaped vitamins he mentions in the book, Edgerton tells NPR, "You have these vitamins, and you've got a small child that wants the kitty vitamin and so you have to cut it in two, and one day I almost said, but I realized I probably shouldn't say - once I cut the little kitty in two I probably shouldn't say, 'Bad kitty!' Well, I'm afraid my little 3-year-old might not know any better and get a great big pair of scissors and go after our kitty, who was still a kitty, and we don't want that to happen. So you never know what kind of example you're setting when you do what you do."
The author lost his father when he was 36 but hopes that he too can live that long for his children.
"It's nice to have more than one little one, because while one is pushing you in the wheelchair, the other one can open the doors. I've been thinking about that a little bit," the author said.
