The long-awaited new-generation Apple TV was supposed to show up last June but the company decided to put the launch on hold to give way to the release of its music streaming service and its new operating system.
The Cupertino-based tech firm is now expected to release the digital media player on September with the new iPhones, Buzzfeed reports. The good thing that came out of this delay is that the tech giant had time to do more upgrades on the digital media player.
Buzzfeed says that the new one is "more polished." That means the box now packs more power even in its thinner chassis. The site says that the all new player has an A8 processor and bigger in-built storage space to offer.
"Drastically improved" from the old one is the remote, which will now don a touch pad. The upcoming Apple TV will also have Siri on board, thanks to a more capable operating system. This new OS will also allow support for an all-inclusive App Store as well as a software development kit for app developers.
The last Apple TV iteration was released back in 2013, Times of India reports. With these all new features, the newest entry to the well-received set-top box is expected to enjoy another warm welcome from the streaming-loving crowd.
Apple is taking advantage of the lucrative holiday shopping period with the set-top box releasing around September. However, those who await the coming of the internet streaming service being worked up by the company will have to be more patient.
Sources are telling Buzzfeed that this service won't be unveiled alongside the Apple TV but the company is hard at work in putting it all together. Like the media player, it was speculated that Worldwide Developers Conference will be the event they will be out.
That said, the internet-TV subscription service is expected to come out next year. Mac Rumors says that it will have 25 channels with the rumored monthly fee set around $30 to $40. Other than that, there are no other concrete details about the project.
For now, the Apple TV is expected to share the spotlight in the keynote event in September with the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. As already reported by Books N Review, these handsets are direct upgrades to Apple's current smartphone flagships that rumor mills continuously claim would don the native Apple Watch feature called the Force Touch.
