For months now, there were speculations that Sony has a smartphone named Lavender coming. Just days ago, there were reports that stated that the new device will be introduced as Xperia T4 Ultra. But according to @upleaks, the handset will be named something else.
The often reliable Twitter-based tipster calls the purported Sony device as the Xperia C5 Ultra. According to Phone Arena, this could mean that a regular-sized Xperia C5 is on the way too. This pair of handsets will be follow-ups to the C4, which is hailed a mobile companion for selfie lovers and only released earlier this year.

Softpedia explains that Lavender may very well end up being addressed as Sony Xperia C5 Ultra rather than Xperia T4 Ultra, owing to the fact that Sony likes to use odd numbers on the names of its offerings that are slated to release on the latter half of the year. As an example, it mentioned the Xperia Z5 flagship.
Meanwhile, according to Android Headlines, the Sony Lavender a.k.a. the Xperia C5 Ultra will sport a very sleek, tasteful design with no bezels to show. Softpedia also adds that the unit is touted to come in a 5.5-inch IPS LCD touchscreen with a nice 1080p resolution. It should also get Android Lollipop for its software as well.
Under the hood, GSM Arena says that the Sony Lavender will have an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor with a Cortex-A53 CPU clocked 1.7GHz. Other reports say it will be an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 chipset that will be used.
Either of those two should go well together with its 2GB RAM. There's no word on the storage options though but it is hoped the standard model will be at 16GB and that it might get a microSD card to make storage expansion possible.
It is also being reposted that the device will boast a Sony IMX214 snapper with LED flash. Phone Arena claims that the front-facing camera of the Sony Lavender will be at 13MP too. GSM Arena writes it will only be 5MP although it agreed that a LED flash for the selfie camera will be added as well.
The previous rumors indicate that the Sony Lavender will be formally introduced as the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra by next month. However, it is still unclear whether or not the upcoming device will make it out its home fort, Japan, and into other regions. Sony is yet to comment about the reports.
