Audiobooks make it easier for readers worldwide to read their favorite books, immerse themselves in the narrative, and accomplish their reading objectives, particularly when on the go. Now, book clubs and audiobook platforms are working together to provide readers with fresh recommendations straight to their devices.
On June 4, Apple Books announced it is now the official audiobook home for Reese's Book Club, one of the most well-known book clubs. The book club, founded by actress Reese Witherspoon, selects a book written by women monthly, with women at the heart of the narrative. Witherspoon's media firm, Hello Sunshine, takes the reins of Reese's Book Club. According to the Hello Sunshine website, the book club's focus is on women-led stories to deepen our connection to books, authors, and ourselves.
Users may follow a dedicated page on Apple Books to receive updates on new monthly picks, view previous picks, and browse editorial collections carefully curated by Apple and Reese's Book Club editors. Apple Books will give special price discounts, and Hello Sunshine will compile audiobook recommendations exclusive to Apple Books throughout the year to give readers more options.
Witherspoon stated that audiobooks are an effective and accessible way to enjoy the experience of a great book. She added that they are excited to partner with Apple Books to connect their community and audiobook enthusiasts worldwide to the latest picks of Reese's Book Club.
Apple's senior vice president of Services, Eddy Cue, praised Witherspoon's efforts and impact on presenting various narratives written with fresh perspectives to the limelight. He also expressed his team's excitement about welcoming Witherspoon to Apple Books, adding that their customers can now enjoy themed collections and exclusive audiobook recommendations from Witherspoon's community.
Easily accessible through the Apple Books app, readers can learn more about Reese's Book Club and its current selections, such as the recently revealed June pick, "The Unwedding," by #1 New York Times bestselling author Ally Condie. This quick-paced whodunit book is about a recent divorcee's resort vacation to Big Sur that gets interrupted when she finds a corpse on the day of a wedding.

This partnership is a significant step forward for Candle Media's Hello Sunshine as it continues to build its connection with Apple following prior successful collaborations, including the Apple TV+ original series "The Last Thing He Told Me," which was just renewed for season 2.
It also includes the Emmy, SAG, and Critics Choice Award-winning series "The Morning Show;" the psychological thriller "Surface," starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw; and "My Kind of Country," which was the first competition series for Apple TV+ for exceptional country music talent.
Dubbed by the New York Times as the "Queen of Book Clubs," Witherspoon started her book club, which focuses on fiction written by women about women, in 2017. Since then, she has continuously made her book club picks enter the bestseller list. In 2023, print sales for Reese's Book Club's selections reached 2.3 million copies, outranking those of Oprah's Book Club and Read With Jenna, according to Circana Bookscan.
Although Witherspoon's original goals for Reese's Book Club were to give busy readers narrowed-down choices and to "bring the book club out of your grandma's living room and online," her current dream is to get the book club out of the digital world and back to people's living room.
