The Galaxy Note 2 is one of the highly anticipated "phablets" coming to the market. With Samsung announcing the availability in the U.S. on Oct. 24, consumers are trying to figure out with carrier to go with.
U.S. Cellular is already taking pre-orders for $299.99.
Sprint recently announced in a press release that it will offer its version of the Galaxy Note 2 starting Oct. 25, according to Phandroid. The smartphone will cost $299. It will come in either Marble White or Titanium Grey, and will be a SAFE (Samsung for Enterprise) device, "providing the ability to securely sync corporate email, calendars, contacts and sensitive information."
T-Mobile announced that the Galaxy Note 2 will be available in the coming weeks. It will come in Titanium Gray and Marble White color options.
The Galaxy Note 2 with T-Mobile is similar to other specs for other U.S. Carriers, however, it includes an entertainment feature: a preloaded new racing game on the device, which will include all three free levels.
In new reports, the T-Mobile version may hit stores on Nov. 15. Also, T-Mobile is the only U.S. carrier that will offer the highly anticipated smartphone without the faster and more reliable LTE (Long Term Evolution). It is expected to ship with 3G HSPA+ only, PopHerald reported.
But it seems that users are more concerned with the two biggest U.S. carriers: AT&T and Verizon.
Both popular carriers haven't announced a release date but announced that they are carrying the device.
For AT&T, the carrier issued a press release on Oct. 1 confirming that it will offer the highly anticipated "phablet" hybrid and that it will be available in the very near future, according to ChristianPost.
"Arriving later this year running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), Galaxy Note 2 with 4G LTE combines the productivity of a tablet with the convenience of a smartphone and the S Pen features you need to unleash your creativity," wrote AT&T. But they provided no date.
In terms of Verizon, PopHerald reported that the carrier is supposed to unveil their Galaxy Note 2 mode, the CDMA Galaxy Note 2, on Oct. 24.
What are users saying? In the comment section under a LatinosPost article, consumers sounded off which carrier (or not) they wanted to go with.
One commenter said about AT&T, "Just pathetic that crap carriers like US Cellular and T Mobile are getting this before AT&T, especially when the first Note was an AT&T exclusive, You suck AT&T!" Another said, "Hurry you're a** Up AT&T!!!"
About Verizon, one commenter said, "I feel the same way... I'm feeling very frustrated with Verizon.... It's like they're dangling it and not giving it... maybe, maybe not... maybe... maybe not... November? October? December? noooo January.. nooo it's November.. Make up your mind already!!!! Spill it!" Another said, "i have att but looking to switch to Verizon.. Come on NOTE 2!" One more said, "If you depend on your phone Verizon is the only game in town. They have the best coverage almost everywhere you can go. Their customer service has been slipping of late, but they are still light years ahead of everyone else. I've had friends, family, and co workers on Sprint, AT&T, and T Mobile. Even when they have been without signal I've had signal. Not scientific but in the real world I can count on Verizon."
More comments were for Verizon, more saying, "Come on Verizon, Stop being so damn lazy and release it next week as well," and another saying, "I too will be getting one with Verizon, and definitely agree that the company need to get in gear." One more commenter said, "I asked Verizon in July if they were getting the note..they said NO, so I bought the SIII. Now I am pissed cause they're getting the note and I have the Galaxy SIII. I would have waited if they said, yea we're getting the note..So I'm pissed too."
Nevertheless, some are just waiting for the Note 2 no matter which carrier or when it's coming out, as long as they get the one.
One commenter said, "Verizon FTW! Lol, the release date doesn't concern me. I'm stuck with my Prehistoric iPhone 4 till January." Another said, "I have mine preordered from USCC, just waiting as patient as I can, searching Galaxy Note 2 news on Google about 10 times a day! I can't wait to get my hands on it!" In reply, a commenter said, "same here every damn day I do a search for galaxy note 2 on Google like every 3 hour in the hope to get something concerning a specific date and price release on T-Mobile."
Samsung's "phablet" will feature a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED screen and a rear 8-megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash and front 1.9 megapixel CT camera. It has a 1.6 Ghz quad-core processor and 4G LTE data speeds. It is also expected to have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean pre-installed and come with the S Pen experience and comes with up to 64GB of memory with 2GB RAM and a microSD slow up to 64GB.
