Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade is coming out with a book this year -- and it's not all about basketball.
"A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger than Basketball" will be published by William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins. It is scheduled for release in September, the Associated Press reported.
Wade, who won sole custody of his two sons with ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches in 2011, will write about being a parent, specifically a single father.
"My life changed in a huge way," Wade told the Associated Press after the custody battle finished in his favor. "Mentally, I've been preparing for it for over a year now. To me, it's bigger than that. For me, it shows a lot of people that you need to fight to be in your kids' lives sometimes. You fight until you can't fight any more. That's all I was trying to be, a father in his kids' lives."
The book will also include highlights from Wade's basketball career.
The deal marks another high-profile one this year for HarperCollins, whichacquired the rights to the memoir of Amanda Knox in February.
"We are thrilled and honored to publish Dwyane's book,'' William Morrow vice president and executive editor Henry Ferris said in a statement. "He has an extremely important story and message about the role of fathers in children's lives. And his career in the NBA is also a phenomenal and exciting story.''
Wade acknowledged in a William Morrow statement that he currently has his dream job playing for the Miami Heat.
"However, the daily role I play in the lives of my two children is the single most significant undertaking of my life, and the job I take most seriously," he said.
