All good things must come to an end. Sadly, for Prince Harry, that end came a lot sooner than he was expecting. Specifically, Wednesday morning when he woke up to see his naked British bum plastered all over the Internet.
In the wake of the nude photo controversy, the prince has been called home. According to US Weekly he's currently heading to Balmoral Castle in Scotland to have a good ol'-fashioned chat with his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Phillip, and his father, Prince Charles.
An unnamed source tells the magazine that the royal bachelor - and third-in-line for the British crown - will "have to face up to family" for his wild behavior. And his personal security will have to answer some questions as well - like how the photos could have been taken in the first place, let alone leaked. But Harry's guards needn't be too worried. "Of course questions will be asked, and matters raised, but no one's job is on the line," the source says. "As protection officers, their job is to intervene when his life is at risk, not to protect his image."
Chalk that one up to just another cultural difference?
One source close to the prince said, "This is a mess. This was not the type of fun he was supposed to be having. He's in trouble."
Just one opinion, though. Another insider doesn't think the photos are a big deal and explained, "He's a lad! This is just him messing about on holiday. No one was hurt, he's on proper vacation from his work, so he's not breaking any rules. He's using his own money. The photos look sleazier than they are. They were playing strip billiards."
Former head of royal protection officer at the Met, Dai Davies addressed the incident and admits it tends to be difficult to monitor the Prince's activities, stating he's 'lovely' but a 'nightmare' to control!
"We're paying huge amounts of money for this young man to be followed everywhere he goes by security," Says Davies. "He's a young man with lots of testosterone but there is a balance and occasionally that balance slips."
According to sources who were present at the Las Vegas party, the ladies who joined Harry in a game of strip billiards at his VIP suite Encore Hotel suite were never asked to surrender their phones/cameras, and when they did start taking pictures, Harry's crew only meagerly protested with "awww, come on .. no photos."
Sources who were there tell TMZ the minders were asleep at the wheel, enjoying the party more than protecting the Prince from himself.
London-based law firm Harbottle & Lewis has sent legal letters to ALL of the big newspapers and publishers in Britain on behalf of the royal family, claiming that the naked photos of Prince Harry taken during his trip to Las Vegas over the weekend are in breach of the Press Complaints Commission code, essentially with the goal to put a media blackout on the country and block their release.
Of course, we all know that will last as long as a mouse-click.
Sources reveal, "In an effort to sweep this under the carpet as quickly as possible, Harbottle & Lewis have told the British papers not to run Prince Harry's naked pictures. The lawyers said any one publishing them would be in breach of the PCC. The media outlets were also warned that their privileges for access to media events featuring the royal family could be restricted if they did use the pictures. Of course, the British media is very careful when a royal scandal is revealed nowadays and has to bow down to the royal family's demands. But despite the ban on the UK press, the pictures have already circulated around the world on the internet. Everyone has seen them, so Harry's blushes will never be spared - not in this day and age."
