The new Norwegian translation of the Bible last year has caused quite an excitement in the Northern Europe nation, making all the way to the top of bestselling books of 2011.  Where the Bible has been widely distributed in the region, the new tide has made it an interesting case, although much to the credit that this was the first new Norwegian translation in over 30 years.

According to The Guardian, the new translation was done by thirty consultants of translators, priests and academics who translated from the original Greek and Hebrew translations.  The team of 12 literary authors includes Knausgård and Jon Fosse.  Some believed the new translation, though not necessarily a more accurate text for the Norwegian language, made the bible more readable because none of the authors are religious, thus providing a better a more poetic and literary view to the book.

The new translation has also a companion version which omits the chapter and verses to allow readers to "read like a novel."
