Miley Cyrus recently announced that she wants a long engagement with fiancé Liam Hemsworth, but does this conflict with what she said about wanting a baby quickly?
The former Disney star opened up in the September issue of Marie Claire to talk about her relationship with Hemsworth, 22, and that its right where it needs to be, the New York Daily News reported.
"Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with," the 19-year-old told the magazine. "I don't really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we've made to each other. And we want to have a long engagement."
The "Hunger Games" star and Cyrus announced their engagement in early June after three years of dating. The pair met on the 2009 set of "The Last Song."
"Liam and I have a really good relationship," she told the magazine. "Neither of us is super jealous. We know each other and would never do anything to hurt each other."
In July, sources told US Weekly that the pair wants to have a baby as soon as possible.
"Miley and Liam really want to have a baby quickly," a Cyrus family source told Us Weekly of the couple.
Hemsworth is said to a strong motivating factor in the singer's pregnancy plan, given the fact that his older brother, Chris Hemsworth, welcomed daughter India in May, US Weekly reported.
"They are both mature and ready for this," said a source of the couple, often criticized for their decision to wed so young. "Miley is 19 going on 40."
Long engagement doesn't mean making babies quickly. Could the singer be looking for a baby out of wedlock?
Cyrus also admits that the proposal came as a "complete surprise" to her and her parents, who weren't aware that Hemsworth was looking to pop the question.
"I had no input," she said of her vintage 3.5-carat Neil Lane diamond ring. "We'd been kind of talking about (getting engaged), and I saw something like it online at one point and thought it was really pretty, but I usually wear rose gold.
"I just love that it's old and has a story. And I'm happy because it doesn't look like anything else I wear."
Recently, Cyrus took to Twitter to show off her new dyed-blonde hair cut in Jennifer Aniston's "Rachel" haircut from her days on "Friends" in the mid-90's.
"Who says Chris McMillan doesn't color? Oh yeah Chris himself :) Just for his favorite little angel," Cyrus tweeted on Saturday.
The new look might be a sign that new things are coming for the newly engaged couple.
