The question of who will play Finnick Odair in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is kind of far from being answered, but a possible candidate has been talked about for a while now.
Hunter Parrish, who is probably best known for his role in the Showtime series, "Weeds," is said to be the best candidate for playing the role of Finnick.
Recently in an interview with Pop Sugar, the actor expressed that he wanted to play the role.
"Hunter's not hiding his desire to play Finnick Odair in Catching Fire after losing out on the role of Peeta to Josh Hutcherson," reported Pop Sugar. "Hunter, who says he's a big fan of the book series, told us he'll "be there" in a heartbeat if he's offered the role."
In June, Parrish spoke to MTV News about the rumor of him playing the part, "I think you just kind of step back, and if it happens, it happens. I'm not going to really spend too much time thinking about it, but I'd love to... I'm a fan of the books. I think there's fantastic actors that would probably be better. So there's that for getting me a job!"
Some fans have started a campaign for him. Down With the Capitol, a "Hunger Games" fansite, said "He loves the books first and foremost, and who doesn't want a fan in the role? Secondly, he's 25, so the right age, and he has a look that makes us believe he would be very "popular" as a Victor. He can also play tough, yet have a vulnerable side as well, which fits in with what we see both in 'Catching Fire' and 'Mockingjay'. So, we definitely think he could handle the character's development over the course of the films."
There is also a fansite on Tumblr named "Parrish4Finnick."
The only problem some fans said they had with Parrish is that he might be too short to play the part.
Down With the Capitol listed some fansites that had a say on Parrish to be Finnick. A fan wrote this on the HG Movie Site, "He is too short. That is literally my only argument over why Hunter can't be Finnick."
On the HG Fireside Chat, Savanna said, "Hunter Parrish for Finnick? This one is easy for me. The answer is no. Sorry."
In the most recent Finnick news, "Glee" star Grant Gustin is the latest to try out for the role of Finnick Odair in the film adaption of Suzanne Collin's bestselling second book.
Gustin admitted to ET Canada that he did try out for the role, but admitted that the filmmakers have yet to work out what kind of actor they want to portray Finnick. Gustin did not confirm that he was given the role.
An array of famous names have been thrown into the running to play Finnick in the "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," including Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch (who said he was not taking on the role), and many others, according to the Franchise Herald. Filming is set to begin this fall.
