"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" movie is slowly but steadily getting on track as the production team adds cast members.
In recent casting news, "Glee" star Grant Gustin is the latest to try out for the role of Finnick Odair in the film adaption of Suzanne Collin's bestselling second book.
According to the Franchise Herald, Gustin, who plays antagonist Sebastian on "Glee," from rival singing group the Warblers, recently, announced that he auditioned for the desirable role of Finnick.
Gustin admitted to ET Canada that he did try out for the role, but admitted that the filmmakers have yet to work out what kind of actor they want to portray Finnick. Gustin did not confirm that he was given the role.
"I have auditioned for the role," Gustin told ET Canada. "I don't think [the producers] know what they're looking for just yet, but yes, I auditioned for the role."
According to The Hollywood Gossip, District 4's Finnick is described in Suzanne Collins' novel as a ridiculously handsome former champion of the Hunger Games competition at the center of the triology's story. He's muscular, tan and blonde-haired and he harbored a troubled personal life. Katniss Everdeen learns to trust him during the Quarter Quell, which takes place in "Catching Fire." He helps the rebellion by appearing in rebel propos and revealing political secrets of the Capitol.
An array of famous names have been thrown into the running to play Finnick in the "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," including Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch (who said he was not taking on the role), Hunter Parris (who tried out for the role of Peeta, which eventually went to Josh Hutcherson), and many others, according to the Franchise Herald. Filming is set to begin this fall.
Whoever will play Finnick Odair will join lead Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss), Liam Hemsworth (Gale Hawthorne), Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark), Elizabeth Banks (Effie Trinket), Lenny Kravitz (Cinna), and Woody Harrelson (Haymitch).
Jena Malone was recently confirmed to play the role of Johanna Mason, a character in the book who has a snide personality, wits and she gets physical some scenes in the book.
Also recently, Lionsgate announced in a press release that Philip Seymour Hoffman will play Plutarch Heavensbee in "Catching Fire." The Oscar winner reportedly said yes to the role of Heavensbee, who takes over as Head Gamemaker after the murder of Seneca Crane, which took place in the first "Hunger Games" film.
