"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," the much-awaited "Harry Potter" spinoff led by Oscar winning actor Eddie Redmayne, has been in the news for its unremitting cast additions. With the ensemble ready, the film moves on to details on filming locations—and it looks like producer David Heyman has found the perfect setting for the fantasy flick.
Heyman's team has picked Liverpool as their central film location. The place will be recreated into 1920s New York, which is JK Rowling's chosen setting for the story of magizoologist Newt Scamander. BBC says that for Heyman, Liverpool "works perfectly for our film" and it seems very close to his heart too. "My mother is from Liverpool and, as a child, we would often visit family there," he shared.
As per Echo, the place is the only non-studio location Warner Bros. is using for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" and that the crew already started setting up in sites like the Three Graces and St George's Hall, which has now been enclosed with towering metal fences as filming there is set to commence in a few weeks.
Meanwhile, Liverpool Film Office manager Lynn Sunders via Echo says that the team will be given the warmest welcome. She said "This was a very lengthy process in terms of securing the filming, but throughout it all, we were confident Liverpool could offer the amazing locations which would fit perfectly with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
Sunders and the entirety of her organization are excited to see the cast and crew make a backdrop out of their beautiful city, which they take pride of for often being chosen by many filmmakers as their setting for their films. Director David Yates himself has sought for the splendor of the place and has filmed a couple of his movies in there too.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" follows the journey of Newt Scamander, who journeys to New York to search for mystical beasts, which he, in turn, documented in a book of the same name. His work is a major subject matter in Hogwarts and has appeared in the original movies as being studied by Harry and the rest of the students.
Just recently, the film scouted more stars to their ensemble. The latest addition is Ron Perlman, who, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will play the role of a goblin. Before the actor hopped on board, the movie gained more muscle with "Humans" star Gemma Chan, Carmen Ejogo from "Selma" and Academy Award winner Jon Voight.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" releases on Nov. 18, 2016. While fans twiddle their thumbs for the movie's arrival, Rowling gets them by with trivia about anything and everything Hogwarts. On Twitter, she revealed that Harry's uncle Sirius Black, was born on Nov. 3. As per Movie Fone, next month will be his 56th birthday.
