1. "The Accident Season" by Moïra Fowley-Doyle (August 18)

As October comes into a close, Cara's family become disaster-prone and no one can explain why such phenomena happen. Around the same month in the past years, several relatives of hers perished because of the mysterious curse. In preparation for this year, the family cleans out the house and takes away everything that can cause any mishap.

2. "Slasher Girls & Monster Boys" stories selected by April Genevieve Tucholke (August 18)

This is a collection of spine-tingling tales from who Pop Crush describes as the genre's "most impressive minds" including Leigh Bardugo, Kendare Blake, AG Howard and Stefan Bachmann. Those looking for a good scare and a gripping page-turner should pick up this book when it comes out.

3. "The Creeping" by Alexandra Sirowy (August 18)

If anything, this book took its title literally. Pop Crush says this book will indeed send you the creeps as it recounts the cryptic disappearance of young Jeanie, an incident that shook the town to its core and changed it forever.

While most of the denizens are too frightened to learn the truth not knowing what it takes to reach it, Stella makes it her mission to uncover the longtime mystery, which takes a dark, eerie turn when a body of another young girl turns up twelve years after Jeanie vanished.

4.  "Another Day" by David Levithan (August 25)

The "Everyday" author is back for another riveting volume that's sure to get you spend most of your time reading it and not regret every bit of it. This book isn't a sequel, Bustle reminds. It is a companion book to "Everyday."

Readers will catch up with the same characters and will be taken to familiar places and situations but instead of being guided through A's perspective as he switches bodies each day, the story will be told from the perspective of Rhiannon.

5.  "Until Friday Night" by Abbi Glines (August 25)

And perhaps a little romance wouldn't hurt, especially if it's this one.

As he goes through his life knowing cancer could take his father away from him anytime, Wesh Ashby, a "cocky, popular, way-too-handsome-for-his-own-good" football jock, as Amazon describes it, turns to quiet girl Maggie Carleton, who also has her fair share of traumatic experiences, to find comfort and strength. As he does, Maggie learns to find refuge in him too.
