"Red Dead Redemption 2" seems to be what Rockstar patrons really want to see next, but the developer is yet to reveal if the game is actually in the works. That doesn't stop rumor mills from masticating details about this possibility.
This around-the-clock churning led the gaming realm to believe that the sequel to the mega-successful Western action-adventure video game is not going to follow the name the internet always referred it to. Crossmap says the game will be subtitled "Legends of the West."
This intel came from a Reddit user, who also spilled copious details about the long-rumored sequel. The mystery tipster claimed that the game will be set twelve years before the events in the previous game took place and that in the new title, John Marston won't return.
Instead, gamers will meet three new characters. The first one is named Irish. Hailing from Ireland, he travels to America in celebration of his 21st birthday. The second character is Seth, a Kansas City native who quits his job in a bank to find a hidden treasure. In this quest, he will join Irish.
The third character will be fully customizable, allowing players to create any character to serve as the abovementioned duo's mighty companion. Like Marston, there will be a selection of guns players can choose from to equip the character with.
On the other hand, a report from Latino Post, has a varying info about "Red Dead Redemption 2." The site says that everybody's favorite gunslinger will be back and that the game will be called "Red Dead Revolution." Rockstar is reportedly working on it along with "Grand Theft Auto 6."
The site also claims that Rockstar San Diego, the team that worked on "Red Dead Redemption" and "Red Dead Revolver" is bulking up with the group looking for talented individuals that could help them in making more games in the future. One of which could be the sequel Marston fans have been waiting for.
As for the release date, Latino Post cites Cyberland, which stated that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be released around October next year. Of course, this remains uncorroborated with Rockstar still silent about the game's rumored existence.
There's great pressure on Rockstar to deliver not only because it took them around five years to make the game (basing on the speculated 2016 release date), but also because the title should top its predecessor, which is one of the most acclaimed open world game there is today.
