It is just less than two weeks before "Ant-Man" officially crawls into the big screen that fans learned that an Avenger is set to fight alongside the pint-sized superhero in the much-awaited film. Comic Book Resources says that this comes as a surprise as there weren't any prior reports about it.
[This article is teeming with spoilers. Those who wouldn't want to ruin the surprise should turn back now].
It turns out, Scott Lang wasn't joking when he said that he will call upon the Avengers for assistance. While the whole crew showing up, is, needless to say, a very, very tall order, at least one of them was able to come to the superhero's defense.
In a TV spot for the film, Falcon's appearance was glimpsed. It only lasted a couple of seconds, but this was enough to tease the winged crimefighter's inclusion. In the footage, Falcon aka Sam Wilson looked into the distance as if sensing trouble and preparing to take off and douse it.
According to Cinema Blend, the presence of Anthony Mackie, who plays Falcon, in "Ant-Man" was already speculated but it was never corroborated. There wasn't any weight to those rumors until his cameo appearance in the clip sealed it in and made it official.
It is still uncertain what Falcon will exactly be doing in the film. While it was made clear that he is ready for some action, Cinema Blend adds that he won't be getting much screen time in "Ant-Man" and it looks like he will only be showing up in a major battle sequence in the Marvel flick.
Meanwhile, Screenrant says that it is simply inevitable for an Avenger to pop round in the movie. Actor Paul Rudd, who plays the titular superhero, will put in an appearance in "Captain America: Civil War." This makes things easy for Falcon to show up in "Ant-Man" too.
Screenrant also argues that Falcon's significance in the film's plot is still unclear. Although at the moment, all signs point to a one-time action, it can also be that the hero will play a role that's on the same level as that of Black Widow in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
For now, there's no way of knowing what Falcon's business is in "Ant-Man." Although admittedly, it does make fans think that some of the Earth's mightiest heroes might pop up too. Regardless, fans just have to wait for July 17 and see.
