Father of Scientology Leader Writing 'If He Dies, He Dies' Memoir [Report]

Ronald Miscavige Sr., Scientology leader David Miscavige's father, has agreed to write a book for St. Martin's Press about his son and the secretive church, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

The book is to be titled "If He Dies, He Dies" in reference to a certain report made by LA Times in April, which revealed the church hired detectives to track every moment of their leader's father.

According to the report, police records indicated that the detectives were hired through an intermediary "because Miscavige feared that his father would divulge too much about the organization's activities."

The incident led to the arrest of private investigator Dwayne S. Powell, who described the surveillance conducted around Miscavige Sr. to the police.

According to records, Powell was once tailing Ronald when he saw him in the middle of what looks like a heart attack, with Miscavige grasping his chest while loading his car. He then asked the intermediary for instructions.

A man, who introduced himself as David Miscavige, called back two minutes later.

As stated in the records,"David told him that if it was Ron's time to die, to let him die and not intervene in any way."

When said in a simpler, more straightforward way, the statement translates to "If he dies, he dies," which is the title of Ronald's book.

Blogger Tony Ortega says in his scientology blog that Ronald "has reportedly been working on his book for several years." He wrote that Miscavige Sr. introduced David to the church looking for a cure for the teenager's asthma.

Founded in 1954, L. Ron Hubbard was the founder and previous leader of the church. As David joined the organization, he worked closely with Hubbard and assumed the leader position when the founder died in 1986. David Miscavige is now known as the Chairman of the Board of the Religious Technology Center, LA Times noted.

Meanwhile, a report on Hollywood Life citing Star Magazine reveals that Scientology member Tom Cruise is reportedly leaving the church. In recent years, Tom Cruise maintained strong relations with the church.

The report says that an insider told Star Magazine that Tom is choosing something more important to him than the church, his nine-year-old daughter, Suri.

According to the insider, "She was going on and on about her ballet class and how much she loves it. That's when Tom realized he's never seen her perform ballet and he started to tear up."

The insider added, "It hit him that she's growing up before his eyes and he's not there to witness most of it."

"Tom has been under tremendous pressure where Suri and Katie are concerned because the church doesn't want him close to them... but he's finally making a choice to put his daughter first."
