The woman at the center of the scandal that ruined the political prospects of John Edwards is writing a memoir that will hit book shleves on June 26. Rielle Hunter has become a household name because of her affair with Edwards, which produced their daughter Frances Quinn Hunter in 2008.  In her memoir titled, "What Really Happened: John Edwards, Our Daughter, and Me," Hunter tries to set the record straight and give her side of the story.  Glenn Yeffeth, publisher of BenBella Books, said the following to People Magazine, "We are delighted to publish Rielle Hunter's memoir. A lot has been said. But no one has heard the truth of what really happened until now," 

The news of her book came just a day after Edwards was acquitted of the corruption charge of using $1 million in campaign contributions to cover up the affair with Hunter and the child he fathered with her. The affair took place while Edwards was married to Elizabeth Edwards who at the time was fighting late stage breast cancer. She lost her battle to the disease in 2010.   

The New York Times reported that "Ms. Hunter was shopping a book proposal more than a year ago, but publishers in New York appeared uninterested in her story, several of them said. One publisher said at the time that he doubted that many women would buy the book, considering that Ms. Hunter was having an affair with Mr. Edwards while he was married to Elizabeth Edwards, a popular figure among women. (Mrs. Edwards died in 2010.)"  BenBella Books, a boutique publisher, eventually signed Hunter.

Hunter and Edwards met during the 2008 presidential campaign when she was hired as a videographer.
