One of Hollywood's most influential women Shonda Rhimes is set to publish her own book, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The "Greys Anatomy" creator will release her book, titled "Year of Yes," by November.
In the book, Rhimes reflects on the challenges and successes of her journey for a year of saying yes to every ubexpected opportunity and invitations that comes along her way. The challenge that Rhimes imposed on herself had made a great impact in her life, making her a more positive person.
Time reports that Rhimes did not intend to publish her the book, but when publishing company Simon and Schuster approached her for the book deal, the Emmy award-nominated showrunner remained true to her challenge and said yes.
"Saying yes for an entire year turned out to be one of the most amazing decisions I have ever made," Rhimes said in a press release. "It was also a little insane, a lot terrifying and sometimes wildly embarrassing. So this is not a story I ever planned to share with anyone. However, once Simon & Schuster asked me, I had no choice - what else could I say but yes?"
Back in 2013, The Wrap announced that Rhimes is set to publish a memoir about family life, her climb to Hollywood success, and how she was able to balance both.
"It's mind-boggling that the mega-talented Shonda Rhimes, one of the most admired and accomplished women in Hollywood, would feel the need to challenge her status quo," Mary Sue Rucci of Simon and Schuster said. ""Year of Yes" is surprising, hilarious, poignant, and accessible."
Aside from "Greys Anatomy," Rhimes' TV hits include "Scandal," "How to Get Away With Murder" and "Grey" spinoff, "Private Practice." "The Catch," to be released next TV season, and TV movies "Show and Tell" and "Lawless," are among Rhimes' upcoming projects. Her shows have won several awards over the years, including the Golden Globe award for Best Television Series for "Grey's Anatomy."
Rhimes, who has been named as one of the 50 most influential women in business by Fortune magazine and is one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people had always been very vocal about her support gender equlality and racial diversity on TV which shows in her various TV shows produced through her production company, "Shondaland."
"Year of Yes" is Rhimes' debut book which she solely wrote. Back in 2004, Rhimes co-authored "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement Movie Scrapbook" with Meg Cabot. She also directed the Anne Hathaway starrer.
