NPR's List of 15 Summer Reads From Indie Booksellers

Are you still stuck on what to read for the summer?  Books can be hit or miss and we'd like to help you get more of the hits so come September when someone asks you what you did this summer, you can boast about all the good books you read.  Lately, some of us at Books & Review have found ourselves dragging through lackluster books just to prove something to ourselves. We're not sure what the point is other than to add yet another book on the list of books we won't remember the next day. Some of these books are well reviewed and award winning books but for one reason or another, they are not always our cup of tea.

All this brings us to the point which is that, if you're like this writer, what floats your boat may not always be New York Times bestsellers but the books that only independent bookstores might carry and the ones that aren't always page turners but ones where you can linger over the rhythm of a sentence. Ok now to the point. Really. NPR has assembled a list of books handpicked by indie booksellers.  We think some of these books should make it into your beach bag this summer.  There's something on this list for everyone--from a book about nerd superheroes for the youngin' in your life ("Nerds, The Cheerleaders of Doom") to a book about the importance of storytelling in our lives called "The Storytelling Animal" to "Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal" by the prolific author Jeanette Winterson.

We'll keep bringing you lists because we love them.  This one is from the people wh next to librarians may know books best. So have a look and get started on your summer reading escape.
