Barbra Streisand will finally set the record straight in her upcoming official memoir set to be released in 2017, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The much-awaited memoir by the award-winning singer-actress will be published by Viking.
"Barbra Streisand's memoir is the entertainment story that has been on the top of every publisher's wish list for years. There are over fifty unauthorized biographies about Ms. Streisand that are full of myths and inaccuracies, and she is finally going to tell her own story," according to Brian Tart, president of Viking. "I am thrilled and honored to be publishing her at Viking."
Streisand, who first sought out to be a Broadway actress, started her professional career as a singer in 1960, opening for comedian Phyllis Diller's shows at a New York nightclub. She released her debut album, "The Barbra Streisand Album," in 1963 and won three Grammy Awards. Since then, she has consistently produced hits such as "Evergreen", "The Way We Were," "No More Tears" and "You Don't Bring Me Flowers".
Her acting career also blossomed, debuting in 1964's Broadway hit "Funny Girl." She also appeared in numerous films including the movie adaptation of "Funny Girl," "The Way We Were" and more recently, "Meet the Fockers." She also dabbled in film directing with her feature movie, "Prince of Tides."
Streisand, now aged 73, is one of the few entertainers to have won Oscars, Grammys, Golden Globe and Tony Awards during her career that spans six decades. Her latest album released last year, "Partners," debuted at the top spot on the Billboard charts, making her the only singer to have a number one album in every decade for the last 60 years.
The singer-actress' personal life is also as colorful as her career. She has been married twice - first in 1963 to actor Elliott Gould in which they had a son, Jason. In 1990, she briefly dated tennis star, Andre Agassi, and in 1998, she married actor James Brolin.
The yet-to-be-titled memoir by Streisand is already predicted to become a bestseller when it hits bookstores. The last Streisand biography, "Hello, Gorgeous: Becoming Barbra Streisand," which chronicles the singer's younger years, was written by William J. Mann and was published in 2012.
The memoir will be Streisand's second project with Viking. Her book, "My Passion for Design," was published by Viking in 2010. However, Streisand reportedly started writing early drafts of her memoir back in 2009, according to The Wrap.
