David Baldacci's latest novel "Memory Man" was released just last Apr. 21. The book uncovers the mystery behind the death of Amos Decker's family.
Decker is a former professional football player and detective with an unusual gift -- the gift of memory. After his injury while playing on the field left him with a remarkable retention of memories, the unusual and offbeat hero of the novel must use his incredible talent in solving the murder of his family, and other strange crimes surrounding him.
"Memory Man" is Baldacci's 30th novel, and continues his best-selling streak, as evidenced by its return to the New York Times Best-Seller List. His former chart-topping novels include "Deliver Us from Evil", "The Innocent", and last year's "The Target" and "The Escape."
Fans of Baldacci received "Memory Man" with positive reviews. Washington Post described that the novel as "a master class in the art of bestseller," while Civilian Reader claimed the plot is an "interesting and successful experiment" and the book, "an engaging read." In addition, The novel's protagonist is a "quirky, original antihero", according to Kirkus Reviews.
The next book in the Amos Decker series is yet to be given a title, but is set to be released by 2016, according to USA Today. However, the author is set to release "The Guilty" later this year, which is the next book in the Will Robie series.
Incidentally, "Memory Man" is not the only new entry in this week's bestseller list. Greg Iles' thriller "The Bone Tree" debuts at the third spot this week. Another thriller "Garden of Lies" by Amanda Quick makes its first appearance on the list at number seven. "God Help the Child," by Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison lands on number nine on its first week. Other debuts on the list includes "Asa" by Jay Crownover" and "Aflame" by Penelope Douglas.
Meanwhile, last week's top spot, Paula Hawkin's "The Girl on the Train" drops to second place.
