With Memorial Day around the corner and the christening of summer, we have to start our summer reading list STAT. You too? Well, before you hit the beach or on that exotic trip, don't just go to your local bookstore and start reading book jackets to see if you'll luck out on something good.
So we're going to collate what we're seeing from the different lists that are going around. But what's surprising to us is that most of the list are geared to young readers. We thought summer reading lists were for everyone. Ok here's what we found so far.
From the NYT Motherlode Blog, we have two books that both parents and their pre-teen/teen children can enjoy:
1) Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer (her daughter)
2) Chomp by Carl Hiaasen
Goodread, the reading social network, has these books on their list (not the entire list)
1) The Hunger Games (of course) by Suzanne Collins
2) Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
3) Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
4) 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami
5) The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides
6) The Thing About the Truth by Lauren Barnholdt
UC Berkely has put together this list for their class of 2016.
From PBS's Washington Week,we have this list for all the politicas/politicos.
