If you love books, you probably love writers (and possibly artists) and you may fashion yourself as a writer or you hope that one day all the stories running around in your head will become a book. With that in mind, we bring you the Oracle Club in Queens, a workspace for writers and artists. When we discovered this gem we couldn't be more excited until of course some of us realized we don't live in Queens. But for those of you who do live in Queens, New York or those of you who are so-inclined, this will be an inspiration to start something like it in your neighborhood (if you do, be sure to let us know and give us discounts if it happens to be where we are).
Over the years, there have been more and more shared work spaces opening up in urban areas but one dedicated to writers and artists sounds just lovely. It's not the first by any means. For example, there's the Brooklyn Writers Space but what got us excited were the pictures we first spotted here. If that doesn't make you drool, then we're not sure what will. It is such a beautifully designed space and has that old dusty library feel, which we know for book lovers can be the sweetest thing in the world (including the dust).
To join the Club, you'll have to dish out some monthly dough or you could visit for the day (last we heard, a day pass is $50). The husband and wife team behind this venture, Julian and Jenna (he's a writer with a book, "Balls" coming out soon and she's a painter) write on their website, "Membership at the Oracle Club is perfect for those who wish they had a prober living room in which to entertain, those who are sevsitive to their environment, and those who realize the difficulty of a good conversation in a loud bar.
If you join, you'll be in good company with two birds who are mainstay good cheer for the club.
