Amazon announced the launch of its Sunday delivery service in 15 more cities across the United States.

Amazon is doing everything in its stride to grab the lion's share of online shoppers. Along with launching many other addition services, the giant retailer recently announced that its Sunday delivery service will now be available in 15 more cities across the United States.

The service was launched last November but catered only to customers from Los Angeles and New York metro areas.

"So far, the most common items delivered on Sunday include baby supplies such as newborn apparel, books and toys-Sunday delivery is clearly crossing errands off the weekend to-do list," said Mike Roth, Amazon's vice president of North America operations in a press statement. "We know our Amazon customers love the convenience of everyday delivery, and we're excited to be offering Sunday delivery in more cities across the U.S."

The 15 additional cities include Austin, Cincinnati, College Station, Columbus, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Lexington, Louisville, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, San Antonio, Shreveport and Waco.

Since Sunday delivery launched, millions of packages have been delivered on Sunday to Amazon customers. Amazon and the U.S. Postal Service plan to continue to roll out Sunday delivery to a large portion of the U.S. population this year.

"If you're an Amazon Prime member, you can order a backpack for your child on Friday and be packing it for them Sunday night," said Dave Clark, Amazon's vice president of worldwide operations and customer service in a statement. "We're excited that now every day is an Amazon delivery day and we know our Prime members, who voraciously shop on Amazon, will love the additional convenience they will experience as part of this new service."

The company hopes to roll out the service to a larger portion of the county later this year.
