Barnes & Noble Hosts Halloween Celebrations with Spooky Storytime, Fun Activities, and In-Store Costume Parades

Barnes & Noble stores nationwide was up for some old-fashioned fun at a special, free Halloween celebration Saturday, October 26.

Children aged 3 and up were invited along with their parents to experience the joy of reading Caldecott-winning author and artist Ed Emberley's ingenious story about children who know how to make scary monsters disappear in Go Away, Big Green Monster.  All children received Big Green Monster stickers. The kids were encouraged to wear their costumes to the celebration, which featured scrumptuous treats, creative activities and a costume parade.

Additionally, children and their parents participating in the Storytime took part in an exceptional entertainment experience as the book was read aloud and children were invited to read along on the critically acclaimed NOOK HD+, packed with pixels to deliver text, graphics and video with stunning HD clarity.  Booksellers invited children and parents to explore Halloween apps on NOOK, which kept even the youngest fans enthralled.  With Google Play on NOOK HD and NOOK HD+, customers have access to more than 700,000 Android apps and games, millions of songs and more.

"Halloween is always a fun time for children.  They love to get dressed up, enjoy a treat and good spooky stories," said Sarah DiFrancesco, Vice President, Business Development for Barnes & Noble.  "We are thrilled to read Go Away, Big Green Monster to children this year. The dramatic die-cut illustrations and sparkly designs make this a Storytime favorite."
