After 72 years since its first release, Archie comics will for the first time be made into a teenager love film.
Who hasn't read an Archie comic? All teenagers dream of a life as portrayed in the colorful comics. Now, finally the makers of the comic are giving Archie fans something more to look forward to. In a blog post released June 5, the comic announced it plans to make the first ever movie based on the comic. The announcement stated that Warner Bros. Pictures will be producing this live-action Archie movie based on the Archie Comics characters. Roy Lee and Dan Lin will be co-producers along with Jon Goldwater, Krishnan Menon and Jon Silk as Executive Producers.
"We are thrilled to be working with Warner Bros. on this project and have complete faith in their ability to bring Archie to the big screen in a way the fans will love," said Archie Comics Publisher/Co-CEO Jon Goldwater.
There has been a television series made based on the comic before but this is the first time in their history of 72 years that a film featured on the Archie Comics will be made. The film will be a quintessential high school comedy based on the original line of Archie Comics set in present day Riverdale.
The writer of the film Roberto Aguirre-Sarcasa said, "Jason Moore and I have been friends for a long time, and this is a complete passion project for everyone involved", he also added that "Archie is the ultimate teenager and this movie will be the ultimate teenager movie! We are so grateful to Jon Goldwater for inviting us to this dance."
