Image Books announced Wednesday that it will be releasing a book on the newly-elected Pope Francis next month.
No sooner did the white smoke signaling the election of a new Pope clear, Image Books announced that it will be releasing a book on the newly-elected Pope Francis next month. The book that is yet to be titled will be released April 20. The book on Pope Francis will be written by Robert Moynihan, founder and editor of "Inside the Vatican", a monthly Catholic news magazine based in Rome.
According to the publisher, the book will provide an insight to the spiritual vision and teachings of Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Buenos Aires, the prelate elected pope by his fellow cardinals.
Gary Jansen, editor at Image, the Catholic-interest imprint of Random House, said in a statement that the election of the first Latin American Pope "means a bridging of the Northern and Southern hemispheres in a way we've never seen and signifies a new global vision for the 1.2 billion people who call themselves Catholic."
Moynihan previously wrote "Let God's Light Shine Forth: The Spiritual Vision of Pope Benedict XVI" which was published by Image Books in 2006. He also appears in the media as a commentator on Vatican affairs.
Pope Francis replaced Pope Benedict, who resigned last month. "Pray for me," the new pontiff, dressed in the white robes of a Pope for the first time, urged the crowd, smiling warmly.
The election of the new Pope was announced by French cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran with the Latin words "Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum. Habemus Papam" ("I announce to you a great joy. We have a pope.")
