A new James Bond novel set in 'the classic era of 1969' and written by spy novelist William Boyd is slated for release this September.

The estate of Bond's creator Ian Fleming announced Monday that a new James Bond novel which is being written by spy novelist William Boyd will be released in September 2013. Fleming created his first Bond novel in 1953 and titled it "Casino Royal". From 1953 till his death in 1964, the author went on to pen down 11 more books in the famous 007 series. The legendary author passed away at the age of 56.

While the estate didn't reveal what the plot and title of the latest Bond book is about, it did drop in a few hints to woo fans who are still reeling in the awesomeness of Daniel Craig in the most recent Bond film "Skyfall".

"We can reveal that this novel will see a return to the classic Bond era, featuring a 45-year-old 007 in 1969," the estate said.

According to an official statement released by the estate, the novel will be published Sept. 22, 2013 in Britain by Fleming's original publisher, Jonathan Cape. The book will be available early October in the U.S. and Canada from HarperCollins, a subsidiary of News Corp.

The film version of the character Bond continues to remain a superstar, with "Skyfall" becoming the only Bond film to take over $1 billion at the box office after its release last year.

Over the years, the estate has invited many authors to continue to write books in the series to keep the Bond character alive. On being asked to write the Bond novel, Boyd told Reuters it was a "fantastic, exciting challenge". He said he was already familiar with Fleming as he had once used him as a character in one of his novels.
