Nicholas Hoult Bags Lead Role in Movie Adaptation of Sebastian Faulks' 'Birdsong'

Nicholas Hoult has bagged the lead role in the movie adaptation of Sebastian Faulks' 1993 novel "Birdsong."

After recently splitting with girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence, actor Nicholas Hoult has landed himself the protagonist's role in the movie adaptation of Sebastian Faulks' 1993 novel "Birdsong." The novel has already been made into a hit TV soap and the lead role is played by Eddie Redmayne. Director Rupert Wyatt is also ready to take up this new project after the huge success of his "Rise of the Planet of the Apes."

According to a report by The Guardian, Hoult was Wyatt's first choice for the protagonist's role of Stephen Wraysford in Sebastian Faulks' First World War novel. Wyatt described finding Hoult during the hunt for the lead role in his new project like finding the "holy Grail."

"[Hoult's] great weight, depth and range as a fearless young actor allow us to explore this timeless story of a boy broken by a tragic love affair and what it means for young men to experience the real horror of war," he said.

Hoult's latest project was the zombie romantic comedy "Warm Bodies." The movie, which debuted at No 1 at the US box office last week, is the adaptation of Isaac Marion's novel "Warm Bodies." He will also be seen playing the lead role in upcoming film "Jack the Giant Slayer" and will play supporting roles in post-apocalyptic sequel "Mad Max: Fury Road" and superhero follow-up "X Men: Days of Future Past."
