Scholastic to Release ‘A Day at Abbott Elementary’ Children's Book Inspired by Hit ABC Comedy

"A Day at Abbott Elementary," a children's book penned by Halcyon Person and illustrated by Joelle Murray, is scheduled to be released by Scholastic in 2025. The book immerses readers in the universe of the adored television program, which was inspired by the ABC comedy Abbott Elementary.

Squirrel Shenanigans in New Book

Readers can follow their favorite series of characters on their journeys throughout the book. Ms. Teagues, a second-grade teacher, finds a squirrel in her classroom. The squirrel's activities cause unanticipated repercussions, and chaos ensues. The consequences of the squirrel's actions, which resulted in a large break in the school's walls because it was hoarding nuts, must be dealt with by the staff as they work together to handle the matter.

While geared toward readers aged 4 to 8, the book promises to entertain fans of all ages and anyone with a penchant for laughter. Scholastic is also set to release an official coloring book of the show later this year. It will feature over 90 pages of hand-lettered quotes and original illustrations.

Fans can color in iconic lines such as 'Don't tell me what kind of day to have,' 'Abbott is a special place,' and 'This is a classroom, not a hoagie stand,' along with portraits of beloved characters like Janine, Ava, Barbara, Melissa, Jacob, Gregory, and Mr. Johnson. The coloring book offers hours of entertainment and is perfect for "Abbott Elementary" enthusiasts of all ages.

Success and Romance in Season 3 Finale

Quinta Brunson recently celebrated her three Emmys for the popular sitcom Abbott Elementary, which narrates the teachers' journey in a Philadelphian public institution. The sitcom's third season, which has Janine played by Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Chris Perfetti, and William Stanford Davis, premiered in February 2024.

Given the show's success, Brunson commented on her dedication to turning the vision for "Abbott Elementary" into a reality and expressed her gratitude for the opportunity. Viewers of the show gained the awaited particularity in the final episode of the season when the main characters, Gregory Eddie and Janine Teagues, expressed their love toward each other in the show after playing the roles of people who are not eager to talk about it in several episodes.

Producer Justin Halpern discussed the characters' choice to pursue their romance, stressing the thought that went into their development. Instead of arranging their relationship for dramatic effect, they concentrated on the characters' emotional and personal growth.

Halpern highlighted the importance of continuing character growth in the series, noting that while romantic storylines may encounter obstacles, they ultimately contribute to the overall progression of the characters. As the series moves forward, viewers can expect to see Janine and Gregory's relationship evolve further, reflecting the ongoing journey of growth and development within Abbott Elementary.

Season 4 Confirmed: What Lies Ahead

The show's outstanding ratings and the fact that Hulu binge-watchers kept the show popular were why ABC slated a fourth season, which was disclosed during the 2024 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour. Williams, who plays Gregory Eddie, revealed a few teases about what will happen in the fourth season of the television show. In an interview, he alluded to further research into the dynamics between the two following their kiss at the conclusion.

Williams also hinted at the possibility of more guest stars in the upcoming season, mentioning his interest in having Solange or even Will Smith appear on the show. He envisioned these characters adding depth to Gregory's family background and injecting some Philly-native flavor into the series.

"A Day at Abbott Elementary" is available for preorder at several retailers and will be released on March 1, 2025.
