'Da Vinci Code' Author Dan Brown To Release New Novel "Inferno" in May

"Da Vinci Code" Author Dan Brown's publisher Doubleday announced Tuesday that the author will be releasing his new novel May 14.

Author Dan Brown's novels creating quite a craze and now the author has finished working on his latest novel "Inferno". His publisher, Doubleday revealed that the book will be published this May.

Brown's new novel sees the return of Harvard symbologist and "Da Vinci Code" protagonist Robert Langdon and takes place in Italy. The story revolves around the literary masterpiece "Dante's Inferno," reveals Doubleday.

"Although I studied Dante's Inferno as a student, it wasn't until recently, while researching in Florence, that I came to appreciate the enduring influence of Dante's work on the modern world," Brown said on his website.

"With this new novel, I am excited to take readers on a journey deep into this mysterious realm ... a landscape of codes, symbols, and more than a few secret passageways," he added.

Brown's novel "Dan Vinci Code" was an immediate hit after being published in 2003. The novel stood at the number one position on many bestselling lists for over a year. The movie adaptation of the novel starring Tom Hanks was released in 2006.

His next book "The Lost Symbol" was published in 2009.

Rik McShane, head of books at Waterstones, commented: "Like David Bowie, Dan Brown has mastered the art of surprising the world with an unexpected return. This is fantastic news for Brown's millions of fans, and also great news for booksellers. The Lost Symbol broke all sorts of sales records on its release in 2009 and this new title is likely to be the bestselling book of 2013."

The title of Brown's new book was revealed on his website in a true "Dan Brown" style. Fans posted news of the book on twitter that was linked to a mosaic on the website. AS more posts were made, the mosaic was revealed in pieces, finally revealing the title of the book.

The book will be published by Transworld Publishers, a division of The Random House Group.
