Matt Bomer's named attached to the highly anticipated "Fifty Shades of Grey" film has caused a lot of friction between fans, and Bomer's sexuality is still up for debate in the "Fifty Shades" world.

Screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis publicly started the debate back in August when he said that Bomer should not play the 27-year-old sexy billionaire Christian Grey because he is openly gay.

"Okay I'll say it. Matt Bomer isn't right for Christian Grey because he is openly gay. He's great for other roles but this is too big a game," Ellis wrote as a part of a series of tweets

The tweets caused a whole big debate between Bomer fans and "Fifty Shades" fans that agree with Ellis. Apparently, Bomer's potential to play Christian is still causing a lot of noise in the comment section of "Fifty Shades" articles.

According to the Examiner, in a recent interview with Press Association, Willie Garson, who plays a convincing gay man in "Sex and the City" for year, and Bomer's "White Collar" co-star said, "people assumed I was gay, but it's acting, I'm not gay. I'm a straight man."

"When I was on 'NYPD Blue' nobody asked me if I was a murderer," he continued. Garson believes that the confusion with acting and real life is a product of reality TV. He jokingly stated, "we forget that some of us actually do this for a living."

Garson then addressed the "Fifty Shades" rumors that are surrounding Bomer: "The Matt thing with the Christian Grey thing has just gotten so ridiculous." The actor does not believe that fans or the media has any pull when it comes to who will play Christian Grey. He believes the online campaigning is "insane, it actually is insane."

Bomer hasn't addressed these online, public debates about him playing or not playing Christian Grey because of his sexuality, or even saying anything about "Fifty Shades of Grey." However, he did talk to E! News in June about being gay in Hollywood.

"What we really have to do is stop the adjective before the job title-whether it's 'black actor,' a 'gay actor' or 'anything actor,'" Bomer said. "Everybody thinks that equality comes from identifying people, and that's not where equality comes from. Equality comes from treating everybody the same regardless of who they are. I hope the media and the press catches on to that because it's time to move out of 1992."

Bomer fans would agree, especially after his sexy performance in "Magic Mike" featuring Channing Tatum.

Bomer is also popular for the role of Christian Grey among favored actresses for the role of 22-year-old innocent Ana Steele. One of them is fan favorite Alexandra Daddario.

"I think he'd be great," Daddario told WetPaint, speaking about Bomer, at the SuperTrash Flagship Store Grand Opening in New York City in October. She also noted that he plays a very convincing straight man on White Collar - "Yes, he does. He definitely does." She experienced this first-hand during her run on the show.

In a Books & Review hottest trailer poll, Bomer won over other fan favorites Ryan Gosling, Henry Cavill, Robert Pattinson, and Ian Somerhalder.
