Microsoft has finally revealed their Windows Phone 8 software, and Nokia holds one of the hotly anticipated Windows 8 smartphones coming to the market. Here are five reasons, including Verizon and AT&T coverage, that might help Nokia win vs other Windows Phone 8 carriers HTC and Samsung.

Specs

The Lumia 920 runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 8. It takes many of the physical design elements from previous generations of Lumia handsets, but improves on internal hardware and display technology. Some of the new tech specs include PureMotion HD+ 4.5 inch display (1280 x 768 resolution), Dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, NFC chip with 332ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 2, 2,000mAh battery, and Qi wireless charging. Nokia is touting the Lumia 920′s premier feature as its new camera lens, the Carl Zeiss lens. It has rounded edges and colorful covers with a PureView camera.

The Lumia 820 looks to be Nokia's new mid-range WP8 device with a 4.3 inch OLED WVGA ClearBlack display with Sunlight Readability Enhancement, 8GB storage and microSD card slot, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon Qualcomm processor, 1GB RAM, and Dual-LEAD flash auto-focus camera with Carl Zeiss optics. It features Nokia Maps, Drive, and City Lens.

The Nokia Lumia 822 has a 4.3-inch screen with a dual-core 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon S4 processor with 16GB of memory, a 1,800 mAh battery, 1GB of RAM and a microSD slot that supports up to 32GB. It has Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC. It has a 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash. The front-facing camera has 720p HD resolution and two microphones. It has 4G LTE coverage and will be available in white, black, and grey.

Release Date with AT&T

The Lumia 920 is with AT&T exclusively.

The website BGR said they confirmed with "multiple sources" that AT&T currently is planning to launch the highly anticipated Lumia 920 on Nov. 11.

"The Lumia 920 will be also be offered in three colors at AT&T retail stores," BGR wrote.

The Lumia 920 appeared on Best Buy last Sunday. However, the phone had been taken down. It was selling for $149.99 with a two-year contract with AT&T, which is $50 cheaper than Apple's iPhone 5. The colors were Black, Cyan, Yellow, White, and Red.

According to Wired, the Lumia 820 will be available in a single black, although users can purchase Nokia's removable colored back covers to customize the phone.

AT&T announced that the Lumia 920 and 820 is "coming soon," sometimes in November.

Release Date With Verizon

The Lumia 822 will be a Verizon exclusive and may help Nokia rise to the challenge set by Apple and Samsung.

According to TechCrunch, Nokia officially announced that it will offer the Lumia 822 as a part of Verizon's "Fall portfolio."

"With the Nokia Lumia 822, first-time smartphone buyers - and those ready to switch - will get high-quality performance on both their device and Verizon Wireless' incredibly fast 4G LTE network," Nokia Americas President Olivier Puech said in the release.

Verizon said the Lumia 822 will cost $99 with a two-year contract after a $50 mail-in rebate and will be available by Thanksgiving.

Enthusiasm

The Lumia 920 is one of the most popular, highly anticipated Windows 8 phones.

"After seeing the enthusiastic response to the incredible innovation in the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820, we're eager for people to start experiencing the phones for themselves," said Jo Harlow, executive vice president, Nokia Smart Devices, according to Reuters. "We are focusing our efforts on working with partners who recognize the value of that innovation, and who are committed to helping Lumia and the Windows Phone platform break through in key markets around the world."

According to Nvonews, enthusiasm for Windows Phone 8 is very high "because of the fact that it is going to make things so much different for Windows Phone with the launch of the new and much improved OS for Windows smart-phone."

More Apps Coming Soon

"Microsoft has a huge base of developers and the great majority of them are excited about the prospects for Windows 8," wrote Francisco Kattan, vice president of marketing for Tiggzi, in an email, according to eWeek. Tiggzi is a cloud based service for developing apps across OS platforms, but was not represented at the Sprint Conference. 

"Windows 8 will enable the Microsoft ecosystem with a platform to deliver more compelling experiences across more form factors and this presents a significant opportunity for them," Kattan said.

A previous report said that there were phone 100,000 apps in the Windows Phone Store, but now there are 125,000, according to DigitalTrends.

The report also said that there are currently 30,000 active developers to create more Windows Phone apps, which has a growing rate of around 215 apps per day. "November and December should see a big increase in apps being submitted and released," said DigitalTrends.

According to Wired.com, Windows Phone manager Joe Belfiore said on Monday that Microsoft's smartphone OS is finally catching up to iOS and Android app offerings. Microsoft claims that Windows Phone 8 will have 46 out of 50 top phone apps available in the App Store and Google Play.

"Instagram is certainly a popular one," Belfiore said. "I hope and expect we'll have Instagram at some point. In the meantime, if Instagram is your thing, then alright. We're pretty happy that for almost everyone, coming to Windows Phone is a real possibility right now because we have almost all the apps covered."

Wired.com said that "things will promising" for Microsoft's Windows Phone 8, with having some of the top apps from Apple's App Store and Google Play already there or on the horizon.
