New details about a new smartphone are revealed, as Microsoft gets ready to unveil the final version of Windows Phone 8.
According to TechCrunch, Nokia officially announced that it will offer the Lumia 822 as a part of Verizon's "Fall portfolio." This version will offer wireless charging, an rear-facing 8MP camera and 1.2Mp front-facing camera, LTE support and switchable shells. No pricing or availability was announced.
"With the Nokia Lumia 822, first-time smartphone buyers - and those ready to switch - will get high-quality performance on both their device and Verizon Wireless' incredibly fast 4G LTE network," Nokia Americas President Olivier Puech said in the release.
The Nokia Lumia 822 has a 4.3-inch screen with a dual-core 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon S4 processor with a 1,800 mAh battery, 1GB of RAM and a microSD slot that supports up to 64GB. It has Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC.
TechCrunch reported that price rumors say that Lumia 822 will sell around $50 with a Verizon contract.
This is great news for Verizon fans who want to buy a Windows Phone 8 smartphone. More good news has popped up as well.
According to WebProNews, Microsoft released the Windows Phone app for Windows 8 on Monday ahead of the Windows Phone 8 event (going on right now).
Some of the features are:
- Get your music, photos, and videos from your computer to your phone (and vice versa).
- Quickly share things from your phone with Windows 8 apps (like Photos, or Search). You don't even have to open the Windows Phone app to move things around.
- Automatically save photos and videos you take with your phone to your PC.
WebProNews said that this shows how Microsoft is "working to make Windows 8 an all exclusive platform," which new Microsoft users will be happy to hear.
Nokia's other Windows Phone 8, the Lumia 920, has created a lot of buzz around Microsoft's event.
The Lumia 920 runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 8. It takes many of the physical design elements from previous generations of Lumia handsets, but improves on internal hardware and display technology. Some of the new tech specs include PureMotion HD+ 4.5 inch display (1280 x 768 resolution), Dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, NFC chip, 2,000mAh battery, and Qi wireless charging. Nokia is touting the Lumia 920′s premier feature as its new camera lens, the Carl Zeiss lens. It has rounded edges and colorful covers with a PureView camera.
