Windows Phone 8 Features Will Shine Thanks to Hurricane Sandy: Google Event Cancelled, 32GB Nexus 7, LG Nexus 4 Release Date Pushed Back

Microsoft will finally get some leverage from rivals thanks to Hurricane Sandy.

According to the Huffington Post, Google has cancelled its big Android event, which was scheduled for Monday, Oct. 29, in New York, because of Hurricane Sandy. The storm is supposed to hit New York on Sunday night or Monday morning.

"We are canceling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more," a Google rep said.

Google was expected to unveil a new smartphone, the LG Nexus 4, a new Samsung Nexus 10 tablet, and a 32GB Nexus 7 tablet.

Microsoft has an event scheduled on the same day, Monday, in California to announce the latest version of Windows Phone 8. Google might have stole the thunder because of its highly anticipated devices, but now the Windows 8 Company can breathe.

According to PCWorld, "Carriers on that day are also expected to announce pricing, availability, and pre-order details for the first round of Windows Phone 8 devices."

More attention will be on the highly anticipated Windows 8 phones, including the Nokia Lumia 920, the HTC Windows Phone 8X, and the Samsung ATIV S.
