Britney Spears Trial Raging, Sam Lufti Claims Lynne Spears' Book Made Him Suicidal, Star's Dad Threatened Him

Britney Spears should consider herself lucky that a judge deemed her too mentally or emotionally unfit to attend her own trial. Sam Lufti, the man that claims to be Spears' ex-manager looks determined to put the singer and her family through hell.

Lufti is currently suing Spears and her family for damages for defamation from the tell-all book, by Lorilee Craker and Lynne Spears "Through the Storm," and for a 15 percent cut of Spears' income during the period he claims he was her manager.

In the book, Spears' mom shares how fame forever changed their family and her regrets letting managers, agents and record companies direct the lives of her children.

Lutfi first filed the lawsuit in 2009, less than one month after Spears' personal breakdown and forced hospitalization. On Wednesday Oct. 24, Lutfi's testimony described an incident where he and Jamie Spears, Britney's father, clashed over who the star's "true protector" was while in the her Beverly Hills home.

According to Lutfi, Jamie Spears "barged into the house, lunged at me with fists balled, and chased me around the kitchen island," reported People magazine.

"He was spitting, shouting and angry, saying I'd better leave Britney alone or he'd beat the hell out of me," Lutfi added during the testimony, according to People.

"He came in, started yelling at me, accusing me that I was abusing his wife [Lynne Spears], cornered me in the kitchen, punched me in the [chest] and threatened to kill me," said Lufti.

Lutfi's lawsuit lists libel, defamation, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and breach of contract. The case primarily focuses on the incident as well as the morning after.

Britney's mother, Lynne Spears in also named in the suit. According to Lutfi, her book, "Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World," published in 2008, implied that he had drugged Spears. As a result, Lutfi said Spears' fans targeted him and made threats on his life that left him "depressed, anxious, and suicidal."

Spears will not be in attendance to share her side of the story. The trial judge ruled that Spears is not going to testify or attend the trial, because she is under a conservatorship due to her psychiatric problems. The following morning, Spears allegedly return to threaten Lutfi again.

Lufti alleges Britney's father returned the next morning to confront him again.

"There were threats to kill me, people wishing I was dead," said Lufti. "People wishing harm to my family."

Neither Spears or her parents have publically addressed the lawsuit, but Lynne and Jamie Spears are expected to testify in court within the next few days, according to People magazine.

Last week, Lynne Spears reportedly won a court order against Lutfi, blocking him from describing her as an anti-Semite, according to TMZ. Lufti reportedly wanted to paint Spears' mom as an anti-Semite because her book used the word "Svengali," which, according to TMZ has anti-Semitic roots in Christian mythology.

According to co-author Craker, she is the one responsible for using the word, "Svengali" to describe him, not Spears' mom.  "That's CRAZY," Craker said in an email to mlive.com. "She's about as anti-Semitic as I am, which is to say not at all!!!"

"I was never aware he WAS Jewish as his name sounds Arabic to me. At any rate, she didn't like him because he was hurting her child. She never mentioned his race," Craker said.

Craker worked on the book project for months and spent a lot of time with Lynne Spears.  A longtime freelance entertainment journalist and author, Craker said her book is straightforward in explaining Lutfi's role in Britney's downfall.
