David Letterman Blasts President Obama for Lying Despite Winning Presidential Polls, Bashes Mitt Romney For Avoiding Big Issues [VIDEO]

President Obama might be winning the presidential polls, but he's feeling the heat from a well-known talk show host.

Talk show host David Letterman recently told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow that he's disappointed when a challenger proves to be more honest than an "incumbent President," according to Hotair.com. He felt that Obama has misrepresented Mitt Romney's position on GM and the auto bailout for months.

On Tuesday night's episode of "Late Show," Letterman said, "Now, I don't care whether you're Republican or Democrat, you want your president to be telling the truth; you want the contender to be lying. And so what we found out today or soon thereafter that, in fact, the President Obama was not telling the truth about what was excerpted from that op-ed piece. I felt discouraged."

When Maddow asked, "Because the "Let Detroit go bankrupt" headline you feel like was inappropriate? Letterman responded, "Well, the fact the President is invoking it and swearing that he was right and that Romney was wrong and I thought, well, he's the president of course he's right. Well, it turned out no, he was taking liberties with that."

He also voiced his opinion on both Obama and Romney, saying that he was extremely disappointed with both the presidential candidate for avoiding issues such as global warning or gun control, according to the Huffington Post.

"That bothers me, because I've got an 8-year-old son. What's the world going to be like when he's 65 years old?" Letterman said, speaking of global warming.

On gun control, ""I understand people who have guns. I understand people who hunt. I understand people who want to protect themselves. I understand that," Letterman said. "But I am sick and tired of mass shootings on college campuses and in theaters."

"Of course they're not going to talk about gun control because it's a hot button issue," he went on. "Well, I'm interested in hearing what the future might be for my son. Four and a half hours, I don't get any sense that it's going to be any better for him."

Despite Obama criticism, the president is currently winning the presidential polls based on polltracker.com. Obama currently has 255 electoral votes and 47.8 percent popularity, while Romney has 180 electoral votes with 46.9 percent popularity.
