Windows Phone 8 Release Date, Features: With Nov. 14 Launch, Many Would Rather Buy Samsung ATIV S vs Nokia Lumia 920 Specs, HTC Phone 8X

Microsoft will make a splash with its new Windows Phone 8.

According to a new study, researchers revealed that nine percent of consumers are likely to buy a Windows Phone 8 device. The survey was taken by ChangeWave Research, according to Nasdaq.

"Considering marketing has yet to begin, these findings show Windows Phone 8 will likely have a substantial impact on the smartphone industry," Dr. Paul Carton, ChangeWave's VP of Research, said in an e-mail announcing the results.

Among those nine percent, 36 percent said that they are more interested in the way the platform integrates with Windows apps and other Windows devices. ChangeWave also found that nearly half (45 percent) of those consumers do not know which Windows Phone 8 manufacturer they will choose. But the majority of those who have decided (51 percent) said they will buy a Samsung device.

Samsung came in first place, while Nokia came in second, followed by HTC. Also, Samsung had the highest level of satisfaction among users with 71 percent of them saying they were very satisfied with their current smartphone.

"This could help Microsoft in its mission to push Windows Phone 8 into the number-three position (behind Android and iOS) in 2013," Nasdaq reported.
Samsung's Windows Phone 8, ATIV S, has won spec comparisons vs Nokia's Lumia 920 and HTC Windows Phone 8X.

According to Tech.sc, both the Samsung ATIV S and Lumia 920 will beat HTC'S Windows Phone 8X. One interesting feature of the ATIV S is the storage. It comes with 16 or 32GB plus microSD. Its Super AMOLED technology and 4.8-inch display also gives it an up against smartphone rivals.

The ATIV S features a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display with 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor. It comes with 16/32 memory plus 1GB of RAM with microSD. It has a 2,300mAh battery and an 8-megapixel Auto Focus rear-facing camera with a 1.9-megapixel front camera. It also comes with SkyDrive with free cloud storage.

In terms of HTC, its Phone 8X features a Qualcomm S4 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor with 16GB storage and 1GB RAM. It has a 4.3-inch super LCD 2 touch screen with HD 720p resolution Gorilla Glass 2. It has a 8-megapixel camera with a dedicated HTC ImaageChip and a 1800 mAh battery. It also comes with Beats Audio built-in.

New reports say that the T-Mobile version of the Phone 8X will release on Nov. 14.

Acording to Gottabemobile, the leaked roadmap shows that "T-Mobile will release the Windows Phone 8X more than two weeks after Microsoft will finally launch Windows Phone 8 on October 29. The latest rumors say Windows Phone will come to market in early November, which this date barely falls in.

"If true, November 14 could be the day that other Windows Phone 8 devices release as well."

Nokia's Lumia 920 runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 8. It takes many of the physical design elements from previous generations of Lumia handsets, but improves on internal hardware and display technology. Some of the new tech specs include PureMotion HD+ 4.5 inch display (1280 x 768 resolution), Dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, NFC chip, 2,000mAh battery, and Qi wireless charging. Nokia is touting the Lumia 920′s premier feature as its new camera lens, the Carl Zeiss lens. It has rounded edges and colorful covers with a PureView camera.

Microsoft is holding an event in California on Oct. 29 to announce the final version of WP8.

According to PCWorld, "Carriers on that day are also expected to announce pricing, availability, and pre-order details for the first round of Windows Phone 8 devices."

In July, Microsoft's WP senior product manager Greg Sullivan told Tech Crunch to expect some "cool stuff" when the wraps finally come off Windows Phone 8.

"There are a whole series of... new capabilities and features that will come that we haven't talked about and there's integration with Windows 8 that we'll demo closer to the date," he said.
