Lumia 920 Release Date, Specs: With Pre-Orders Starting Oct. 21, T-Mobile Announces 'Exclusive' Lumia 810 Specs; Is Nokia Making Right Decisions?

More details of Nokia's Lumia 920 have surfaced.

According to TheVerge, the Lumia 920 will be available for pre-order in the U.S. on Oct. 21.

"Sources familiar with AT&T and Microsoft's plans have revealed to The Verge that the carrier will start taking pre-orders for its range of Windows Phone 8 handsets on October 21st - including the HTC 8X and Nokia's Lumia 920," TheVerge reported.

Pre-orders will also be available for Samsung's Ativ Smart PC and the Asus Vivo Tab RT in preparation for a launch on Oct. 26.

PhonesReview reported that the release date for AT&T seems to point to Nov. 4. First reports said it would be Oct. 21. However, Microsoft is holding an event on Oct. 29 in California.

"It makes sense that Nokia and AT&T will want to be among the first to get a smartphone running Windows Phone 8 on the market and November 4 is the first Sunday after the unveiling of WP8, making this seem like a promising date for release. WPCentral reports this news as a 'confirmed' release date and while we wouldn't go that far until we hear it from Nokia or AT&T, it certainly looks as though the Lumia 920 is highly likely to hit the shelves on that date," PhonesReview reported.

AT&T recently revealed that it will carry the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, which the Lumia 920 will be an AT&T exclusive.

According to Wired, in the statement, the Lumia 920 and other Windows Phone 8, the Lumia 820 will both run on its 4G network. The Lumia 920 will come in red, white, black, yellow and cyan. The Lumia 820 will be available in a single black, although users can purchase Nokia's removable colored back covers to customize the phone. AT&T did not give any specific release date beyond November.

According to the LatinosPost, T-Mobile announced that it will carry the Lumia 810.

The Lumia 810 features a 4.3-inch OLED WVGA Clear Black display, 800x480 pixel resolution, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with Carl Zeiss optics, 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera with Skype HD, 1GB RAM, 1,650mAh battery and the Windows Phone 8 operating system.

The Lumia 920 runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 8. It takes many of the physical design elements from previous generations of Lumia handsets, but improves on internal hardware and display technology. Some of the new tech specs include PureMotion HD+ 4.5 inch display (1280 x 768 resolution), Dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, NFC chip, 2,000mAh battery, and Qi wireless charging. Nokia is touting the Lumia 920′s premier feature as its new camera lens, the Carl Zeiss lens. It has rounded edges and colorful covers with a PureView camera.

Nokia's new smartphones seems to be on everyone's radar. Many analysts are afraid that Windows 8 will not create success for Nokia, however consumers always say that they can't wait to get their hands on the Lumia 920.

Nvonews.com called the Lumia 920 a "compelling device. "A host of other features make the Lumia 920 a compelling device. The ability to charge wirelessly, better visibility under direct sunlight due to PureMotion HD technology, offline maps, and NFC capability being some of them."

However, some are skeptical that Nokia bringing the Lumia 920 exclusive to only AT&T is a bad decision.

"I think Nokia is making a big mistake by limiting the Lumia 920 WP8 device to AT&T when they need to get this high end device on EVERY major US carrier. It comes as no surprise that the other carriers are revealing Lumia 8xx availability with T-Mobile getting an "exclusive" Lumia 810," ZDNet writer Matther Miller said.

"This looks to be a nice WP8 smartphone, but given that Windows Phone has such a slow adoption rate I am still disappointed that only AT&T will get the high end 920 with all the Nokia innovation inside. Microsoft and Nokia need to get ALL new Windows Phone devices out on as many carriers as possible and stop messing around with stupid exclusives at this point in the smartphone battle."
