Ann Coulter Plays Race Card, Dismisses Civil Rights, Calls Activist 'Child Pornographer' Promoting Her Book 'Mugged' on Current TV (Video)

Bless Ann Coulter's heart. She's the real gift that keeps on giving. Ostensibly promoting her new book, "Mugged: Racial Demagoguery from the Seventies to Obama," Coulter appeared recently on Current TV's "Say Anything" with Joy Behar. Things did not go well. (See video below)

While appearing on Behar's program with civil rights activist Kevin Powell, Coulter took Powell's criticisms that her book doesn't accurately portray racism in America to heart.

"[Coulter] plays the race card with every book because it helps her sell books," says Powell in the video. "Racism in this country is not dealt with accurately in this book because the statements she makes, she makes up as she goes along. To say that racism doesn't exist in this country is an absolute lie."

To which Coulter replies, "... Coming from a child pornographer."

Just to be clear, there's no connection between Powell and child pornography. Coulter vaguely clears up her statement by saying she was just lying because Powell was.

In "Mugged," USNews.com reported that Coulter said Democrats pretend that Republicans are racist because it's the only way they can win.

"It's the only way this guy got elected and will be re-elected," Coulter says of President Barack Obama. "The theme of 2008 was that it was historic and you're a racist if you don't vote for the first black president. Someone with his youth and lack of experience would not be elected if he was white."

"What you don't want to deal with is you're one of the people that helps divide people in this country. Do you want to bring people together or do you just want to sell books?" says Powell.

"This isn't a story about black people-it's a story about the Left's agenda to patronize blacks and lie to everyone else," says Coulter in "Mugged."

She continues, "For decades, the Left has been putting on a play with themselves as heroes in an ongoing civil rights movement-which they were mostly absent from at the time. Long after pervasive racial discrimination ended, they kept pretending America was being run by the Klan and that liberals were black America's only protectors.

It took the O. J. Simpson verdict-the race-based acquittal of a spectacularly guilty black celebrity as blacks across America erupted in cheers-to shut down the white guilt bank.

But now, fewer than two decades later, our "post-racial" president has returned us to the pre-OJ era of nonstop racial posturing. A half-black, half-white Democrat, not descended from American slaves, has brought racial unrest back with a whoop.

The Obama candidacy allowed liberals to engage in self-righteousness about race and get a hard-core Leftie in the White House at the same time. In 2008, we were told the only way for the nation to move past race was to elect him as president. And 53 percent of voters fell for it."

"You're removed from the communities you're talking about, that's part of the problem," says Powell to Coulter.

Coulter goes on to make the argument that race relations have dramatically improved in the U.S. since the days of Selma, AL and slavery. To which Powell replies, "Unless you're a black or Hispanic male in New York."

Much of the video is virtually unintelligible due to Coulter's persistent yelling over Powell and Behar whenever they dare to contradict or question her facts, which she never attempts to back up, such as the dubious claim that "99 percent of Jews voted for [President] Obama" in the 2008 election.

"It's been fun, I've never been on with a child pornographer," says Coulter closing out the interview.

"I've never been on with a homophobic, anti-Semite, racist," says Powell.

Coulter's book, "Mugged: Racial Demagoguery from the Seventies to Obama" is available now.
