It's always good when "Fifty Shades of Grey" fan favorites speak up about playing the two lead roles, Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.
This time it is no other than "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder, who is a HUGE fan favorite to play Christian.
The 33-year-old actor recently spoke to E! News at the 2012 Environmental Media Awards about the sexual character and audition process, according to the Examiner.
"I think that's going to be a very interesting story to tell...It seems like whoever plays that role, it will be very interesting rehearsal time...the audition process is gonna be interesting," Somerhalder said.
When he is asked who his ideal Anastasia would be, Somerhalder does not give a solid answer. "My Anastasia? I don't know...there are too many [good Hollywood actors] to name."
Somerhalder has always been a fan favorite to play Christian Grey because of his acting abilities and "TVD" character Damon.
Bestselling author E.L. James may have hinted that Somerhalder could be a possibility for Christian when casting when she recently denied rumors of Ryan Gosling playing the key role on Ryan Seacrest's radio show.
James said those reports were "completely misreported."
"What happened is that his local paper, he's from Northern Ireland, there's a newspaper there called the Belfast Telegraph that reported on my husband being the inspiration for Christian Grey. Underneath it they put a picture of Ryan Gosling, as well. So, that's how that came about," James said.
E! Online also reported that although she is a big "The Vampire Diaries" fan, the lead actor would be selected by the studio and they weren't that far along in the casting process.
Being a big "Vampire Diaries" fan is a very good thing to hear for Somerhalder fans. Actually, it was previously reported that the vampire hottie was in talks with producers.
He revealed this information to his fans at "The Vampire Diaries" Convention in New Jersey.
Fifty Shades Source and Fifty Shades Film reported several tweets that confirmed this news
However, producer Michael De Luca denied reports about this, and said they were just rumors.
"Haven't met, nothing scheduled, just dealing with prospective writers right now, thanks for being interested!" De Luca tweeted to a fan when asked about Somerhalder meeting with "people."
He then responded to another fan an hour later, "We haven't met on this, appears to be a rumor."
That's all it looks like, just rumors.
In July, Somerhalder spoke about casting at Comic-Con 2012 San Diego.
"I can't imagine Universal doing that, but that would be very interesting," Somerhalder said.
"TVD" co-star and real life girlfriend Nina Dobrev added, "I think if people saw us in '50 Shades of Grey' they'd just see Elena and Damon." She plays Elena on "The Vampire Diaries and Somerhalder plays Damon."
Will the fan favorite be able to stand up against the world's sexiest fan, "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson? The 26-year-old star was named the sexist man for the fourth year on Glamour's list of 50 sexiest men. Pattinson also is in second place in a new Books & Review Christian Grey poll, right behind "True Blood" star Alexander Skarsgard.
Fans are looking for more REAL information from the two producers and James. It looks like we will just have to speculate for now and look into every word that fan favorites are saying when giving interviews.
