Ann Coulter recently revealed that the Democratic Party has changed their strategic campaign to focus on the Latino vote instead of the Black vote.

"Democrats are dropping the blacks and moving on to the Hispanics," Coulter said during a roundtable discussion on ABC's "This Week With Goerge Stephanopoulus" that featured Coulter, Univision anchor Jorge Ramos, former Clinton labor secretary Robert Reich and former Obama domestic policy adviser Melody Barnes.

Coulter's comments came in response to Ramos, who accused the GOP platform of ignoring immigration. "If Republicans don't do something with immigration," Ramos said, "they're going to lose not only this election, they might lose the White House for a generation."

"I think the way liberals have treated blacks like children and many of their policies have been harmful to blacks, at least they got the beneficiary group right," Coulter said. "There is the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow laws. We don't owe the homeless. We don't owe feminists. We don't owe women who are desirous of having abortions or gays who want to get married to one another. That's what civil rights has become for much of the left."

"Immigrant rights are not civil rights?" Stephanopoulos asked.

"No," Coulter responded, "No. I think civil rights are for blacks. What have we done to the immigrants? We owe black people something. We have a legacy of slavery. Immigrants haven't even been in this country."

Of course, this would spark debate.

UrbanFaith asked what Coulter said was "a valid point? Or is she simply stirring the race pot?" The website called the conservative activist's quotes "explosive."

TheRoot disagreed with Coulter about civil rights being only for blacks. "Wrong," the write wrote. The definition of civil rights was given:

A civil right is an enforceable right or privilege, which if interfered with by another gives rise to an action for injury. Examples of civil rights are freedom of speech, press, and assembly; the right to vote; freedom from involuntary servitude; and the right to equality in public places. Discrimination occurs when the civil rights of an individual are denied or interfered with because of their membership in a particular group or class. Various jurisdictions have enacted statutes to prevent discrimination based on a person's race, sex, religion, age, previous condition of servitude, physical limitation, national origin, and in some instances sexual orientation.

TheRoot when wrote, "Ironically, Coulter, who is not black as far as we know, was taking advantage of one of her own civil rights -- the freedom of speech -- when she made the erroneous comment. But moving forward, if she wants to give up that privilege to back up her misguided legal theory, you won't hear us complain."
