Samsung is making some changes to its new Galaxy S III.
According to PCAuthority, Samsung's latest 4G-capable S3 is set to launch with Jelly Bean out of the box, with an update for existing owners right around the corner.
"The Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE model being launched by Optus, along with its new 4G network could be arriving with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box," the report said. "A spec sheet for the 4G-capable Galaxy S3 reveals that it will be running the latest version of Android on launch, packed within an exclusive Titanium Grey body.
"A German TechRadar reader has reported that his Galaxy S3 is already chowing down on a Jelly Bean update, so it shouldn't be too long before Galaxy S3 users get a taste of the latest Android operating system."
According to KnowYourMobile, Samsung confirmed that the Android Jelly Bean update will be arriving on the Samsung Galaxy S3 at some point during October, but didn't reveal an exact date.
The 4G version on Everything Everywhere [EE] will launch later this year, and it will already come with Andriod Jelly Bean already installed.
Moving on to the Galaxy Note 2.
According to eWeek, the new "phablet" will be coming very soon.
"Samsung shrank the bezel around the display, so while it offers 2 more inches of screen, it's thinner and doesn't feel drastically larger; it measures 151 by 80.5 by 9.4mm to the original Note's 147 by 83 by 9.65mm. And while the battery has increased by 25 percent, the weight has held steady at 6.3 grams," described by eWeek.
eWeek reported that the new "phablet" will be likely out in time for holiday sales. It has a 5.5-inch display and smaller than existing tablets yet larger than other smartphones. It's longer and slimmer, Super Amoled display with 1280 x 720p HD resolution. It has a Samsung 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor, and the standard battery is now 3100mAh. It will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
The Note 2 will be optimized for LTE 4G technology and will have a physical S pen, which is now longer and thicker.
eWeek describes:
An AirView feature enables users to hover over the display for more information, without clicking on anything. When a video is playing, for example, a user can hover the S Pen over the timeline on the bottom and see upcoming footage. In an album of videos, hovering the S Pen over the thumbnails offers a condensed look at the footage that awaits.
According to TrustedReviews, the Note 2 pre-orders see Oct. 15 release date tipped. Samsung has not confirmed anything yet.
According to PCMag, Samsung expects sales of its flagship Galaxy S III smartphone to exceed 30 million units by the end of the year. For the Galaxy Note II, the company expects sales to be more than double that of the original Galaxy Note, which has sold more than 10 million units.
