The "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie is headed to casting Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey as the narrow the screenwriters down to four selections.
Movie rights to the trilogy were bought up by Universal and Focus Features, U.S. media reported in March.
Recently, Michael De Luca and Dana Brunett, producers of the Oscar-nominated film "The Social Network," have been picked as the production team for the erotic "Fifty Shades of Grey" film adaption.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Luca and Brunetti have picked four front-runners for writers: Karen Croner, Dan Fogelman, Veena Sud, Kelly Marcel.
The Hollywood Reporter said:
"Although Fogelman is the most seasoned of the group, with such credits as Bolt and Cars 2, he frequently works in the family-friendly arena -- a far cry from the S&M themes depicted in E.L. James' best-seller.
Toronto-born Sud has forged darker subject matters, having developed AMC's The Killing, based on the Danish series The Crime. Paramount also tapped Sud to write a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's Suspicion.
Croner is in business with Universal/Focus on another adaptation: the Tina Fey-Paul Rudd starrer Admission, which is based on Jean Hanff Korelitz's 2009 novel. She also adapted Anna Quindlen's novel One True Thing, which starred Meryl Streep and Renee Zellweger.
Marcel, a British writer and actress best known for her work on the Fox TV series Terra Nova, wrote the Tom Hanks-Emma Thompson starrer Saving Mr. Banks, which goes into production next month."
"American Psycho" writer Bret Easton Ellis recently revealed that he is no longer being considered for the film adaption on Tuesday.
"It's a very major disappointment to announce that I've somehow been taken off the list of possible screenwriters for Fifty Shades of Grey," Ellis tweeted on his Twitter page.
After the screenwriter is chosen, the script is the next part of the process, and then the actors and actresses will be chosen.
Many names have been linked to the roles in the book.
"Fifty Shades of Grey," written by bestselling author E.L. James, tells the story of 22-year-old recent college grad Anastasia Steele, who enters into a dominant/submissive sexual relationship with a BDSM-crazed billionaire named Christian Grey.
"Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke, "Gilmore Girls" star Alexis Bledel, "Percy Jackson & the Olympians" star Alexandra Daddario, "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder, "DietTribe" Jessie Pavelka, "True Blood" Alexander Skarsgard, and "White Collar" star Matt Bomer are just some of the popular actors/actresses that have been linked to the two steamy roles. Fitness star Jessie Pavelka has recently become a huge fan favorite.
